Team Novo Nordisk to Race Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic

Team Novo Nordisk announced today that it received a wildcard invitation to the sixth edition of the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic.

The team is delighted to make its RideLondon debut. Reactions from Team Novo Nordisk CEO and Co-Founder Phil Southerland and General Manager Vassili Davidenko below:

Team Novo Nordisk CEO and Co-Founder Phil Southerland:

We have eagerly awaited this invitation to the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic all season. Racing in Britain allows us to continue to spread our mission to inspire, educate and empower everyone affected by diabetes both locally in Great Britain and across the globe. The fans in the UK are amongst the most enthusiastic in the world, and I know one of our team’s future heroes is in the UK just waiting to be inspired to dream big.

According to Diabetes UK, an estimated one-in-16 people in the UK are living with diabetes, and that number is expected to increase to five million people by 2025. A World Tour race with the prestige of the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic serves as a platform to spread this message of a healthy, active lifestyle to all people who need motivation and inspiration to get out and exercise.[1]

Team Novo Nordisk General Manager Vassili Davidenko:

First, we want to express our appreciation to the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic race organizers. This one-day race will serve as Team Novo Nordisk’s third World Tour event of the season. Since its inaugural edition, the Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic has been a standout one-day event, and we plan to bring a competitive squad for the 200-kilometer route that runs through London and Surrey.

Like other events organized by the London & Surrey Cycling Partnership, Prudential RideLondon is recognized for being well organized and for having lively fans along the race route. We’ve raced at the Tour of Britain before and London & Surrey Cycling Partnership has always supported the team’s mission, which makes us very eager to race for the first time in front of the RideLondon energetic crowds and show off our Changing Diabetes jersey.
